VUG Rules

VU Games Tournament Code of Conduct

To keep VU Games a fun place for everyone, we ask that you show consideration for your fellow Tournament competitors by following these simple rules.

  1. Racial, religious and sexually explicit language shall remain prohibited at all VU Games rooms and tournaments..
  2. You must follow the posted Rules from the site.
  3. Please refrain from the use of vulgar language, threats or harassment of other users, racial or ethnic slurs, sexism, or slander.
  4. No cloning.  Cloning is defined as the same person being in two different games/rooms at the same time.
  5. Unauthorized or copyrighted material may not be made available for download.  This means if your web site contains hacked or illegal downloads available, you will be banned from VUG and your tournament group prohibited.

  6. The use of ASCI/Macro “hugs” is prohibited during tournaments by both players (in or out of the tournaments) and TD's, and will be considered flooding. These include the welcome messages that are created using ASCII text characters. You will be warned only one time then removed from the room.
  7. If you are hosting a tournament, and non-tournament players are using the ASCI hugs, please ask them in private to stop during your tournament.  If they refuse, please page a Host and explain to the Host the situation when they arrive, and let them handle it.  http://durcomworks.net/hoyle/hosts.htm

Violation of any of the terms and conditions set forth in the VU Games Tournament Terms and Conditions of Use may result in removal of your tournament privileges.

Guidelines

Ads:

VUGames understands the need to post ads in other rooms to drum up business. We also understand the non tournament player’s frustration when those ads become overbearing. As of March 1, 2004 all clubs may run one ad ONLY in rooms outside of their own, in the same game as they are playing, one half hour before your tournament begins. We request the ads be no longer than 2 lines and do not use excessive ASCI characters.

If you enter a room to advertise during a tournament, please ask the TD in charge IN PRIVATE if you may run your ad.  As a TD, please respect that they may be in the middle of running their rules and not appreciate the interruption.  If so, please wait until they give the all clear to run the ad.  If you are asked while running a tournament, please let the TD asking know when it is ok to run their ad.

Example: If you run a poker tourney at 11 AM in room 2, you may run one ad in each of the other poker rooms only from 10:30 am – 11am.  You may not go into the spades rooms and run the ads.

Please note that Cases Ladders prohibits Cases/MyLeague Ladders from advertising in other ladder rooms.  Please continue to abide by their League rules if you are a MyLeague or Cases Ladder.

Rules for your Game:

You may run the rules of your tournament a maximum of two times at the start of your game. Rule requests or clarifications to individual players should be done in private chat.. Constantly running the rules over and over will not be allowed. I see how frustrating it is for the non tournament player to see these rules scrolled over and over.  Any  modifications or special round rules between rounds, may of course be posted.

Timeslots:

Tournaments must be run on the hour or the half hour only. No more tournaments at 15 and 45 of the hour.  You may start seating your players 30 minutes before your allotted start time, if there are seats available. Tournaments should begin within 15 minutes of their scheduled start time.  When your tournament ends, please graciously thank your players without the use of ASCI hugs, and allow for the next tournament to begin.

With regard to rooms boots that may interrupt your tournaments, you will be allowed to finish your tournament as needed.

New Groups:

It seems we have quite a few groups coming and going and I am going to ask that all groups email Linda at  hoyle_moderator@durcomworks.net
Any future changes to ownership/head admin should be sent in so that our records are kept up to date.

There will be no new groups allowed in Social 1 of any game.  In addition, if we continue to receive a number of complaints regarding groups currently using Social 1, we will move you to another room.

Please provide the following information for your group:

·
  Club/League/Ladder Name:

·  Url To Web Site:

·  Owner/Head Administrator Name:

·  Owner/Head Administrator Email Address:

·  Games and Room in which you Host Tournaments:

And we are going to compile a list. We want to stop the overcrowding of groups. We want everyone to have fun.

Enforcement:

Enforcement of these rules will begin by Hosts on Monday, March 8.  We ask that you all begin implementing them immediately.  All Head Admins/Head TD's are responsible for letting your staff know of the rules before they Host their next tournament.   Not knowing is no excuse.

I will be sending these rules to the hosts to help enforce. I am not going to put hosts in each room but will if it becomes needed. I am really hoping you all can get together and police this yourself. I ask that any group who has a complaint about these rules being broken, email me at mike.bowman@vugames.com with screen shots of the infraction in jpg format.  I am going to take a 3 strikes kind of approach. If you get a complaint, and I deem it to be a legitimate complaint, I will let you know, and 3 strikes and I will ask that you do not hold tournaments on our site. If you decide to hold them anyway, I will instruct our hosts to ban you, and everyone who is in your tournament after a warning to the group that they are playing in a group that has been banned from our site. I never want to have to do this, but if you decide to break the rules I am setting up, then you get the consequences.

I am open to all comments on this. I really never wanted to get involved in these groups, but we have a few that don’t seem to get along.  I am trying to get new rooms up and running but they were so loaded with the Flipside pop ups they are not cooperating like I would have hoped.

I will try to get these out to you as often as I update them.

If you know of some owner that I missed, let me know or forward them on.

Thanks for playing and I hope we can make this enjoyable for everyone involved.
